HOW FAST CAN AMERICA BE DESTROYED?

Posted by straight shooter on March 14, 2009 under Economy, Political, Social Concerns

It appears that Barak Obama is moving full speed ahead to destroy the economy. Why? Perhaps Obama, as one report claims, knows exactly what he is doing and is purposely throwing our economy into chaos to put Americans in a position where they will be clamoring for a savior, paving the way for government takeover of a once-free people. Remember he has had a lot of input into his life from Marxist and socialist ideologues from associates and academia.

Whatever the reason, Americans will have to revisit the foundational principles that have made it the greatest nation on the face of the earth if we are to recover the principles of liberty under God. These biblical principles have provided restraints on American capitalism to compassion for people, and they will need to be reaffirmed and publicly acknowledged. The word “virtue” must once again become part of the American lexicon.

Even as the Obama crowd would waste no crisis in advancing their agenda, so should the people of God see this as an opportunity to rise up, exercise leadership and see America once again enjoy God’s favor as we publicly acknowledge that we again want to be “One Nation Under God.” Should the Church not stand up and lead the way?

OUR WAYWARD FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FUNDS TERRORISM !

Is America paying for it enemies to attack her? Is Congress committing treason …stupidity … or both?

From the East Coast to the “Left Coast,” America seems to be moving farther and farther from its Founders’ vision and government.

George Washington advised, “The great rule of conduct for us, in regard to foreign nations, is, in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible.” Yet the Obama administration just pledged $900 million in U.S. taxpayer-funded aid to Hamas-controlled Gaza and Mahmoud Abbas’ Palestinian Authority.

Thomas Jefferson counseled us, “We must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt.” Yet the feds have skyrocketed our national debt by trillions of dollars, and they plan much more fiscal expansion, with few expectations of resistance. George Washington admonished, “To contract new debts is not the way to pay for old ones.” But we keep borrowing and bailing out, and we watch the stock market plunge further every time we do.

INSULTING JOBLESS AMERICANS !

Posted by straight shooter on March 13, 2009 under Economy, Immigration, Political

By the choices we make we define ourselves. We reveal what we believe by what we say. And so, too, do our institutions.

Congress, in writing the $789 billion stimulus bill, revealed that, for all its “Buy American” blather, it does not truly put America first. It does not believe that 10 million jobless Americans, in the country their fathers built, should receive any preference in hiring 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens who broke into this country and owe her no loyalty, allegiance or love … let alone pay any taxes!

Is this an insult to jobless Americans? Sure is! Does this show the lack of patriotism by a lot of our congressmen? You gamble! What other conclusion can one reach after Congress refused to require that employers on construction projects, paid for by U.S. tax dollars in the stimulus bill, verify that their workers are Americans? For that is precisely what Congress did.

The first paragraph of the front-page story in USA Today says it all. “Los Angeles – Tens of thousands of jobs created by the economic stimulus law could end up filled by illegal immigrants, particularly in big states like California where undocumented workers are heavily represented in construction, experts on both sides of the issue say.”

According to the Center for Immigration Studies, illegal aliens will take around 300,000 of the 2 million construction jobs that will be supposedly created by the “stimulus” bill. This figure is based on Census Bureau estimates that 15% of all construction workers are illegal aliens or immigrants who are not authorized to work in the United States.

THE MEDIA IS STRANGELY SILENT

Scientists meet to dispute global warming theory.

Manmade climate-change skeptics are meeting in New York City for the 2009 International Conference on Climate Change.

This conference is international in scope being opened by Vaclav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic and the European Union. When it comes to manmade global warming, Klaus calls that a myth. He is also an outspoken critic of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and says the panel is one-sided and has a political agenda.

Featured at the conference will be more than 70 scientists who do not subscribe to the notion that so-called global warming is driven by manmade emissions of carbon dioxide, one of those being Harrison “Jack” Schmitt – one of the last astronauts to walk on the moon.

The Conference is being hosted by The Heartland Institute. Dan Miller is the director of public relations at Heartland. Miller says, “What we are trying to accomplish with this conference is to present to the politicians and to the public that the debate is not over about global warming or climate change; that there is plenty of room for disagreement; and that sound science shows that the earth is not warming.” … “For much of the latter part of the 20th century there’s been a mild warming as we come out of an ice age – but the planet today is much cooler than it was a thousand years ago.”

Besides the 70+ scientists at this conference, more than 650 scientists worldwide have expressed skepticism over manmade climate change.

GET READY TO RUMBLE OR BE STOMPED !

Posted by straight shooter on March 5, 2009 under Economy, Political

In his campaign and inaugural address, Barack Obama cast himself as a moderate man seeking common ground with conservatives. Yet his budget calls for the radical restructuring of the U.S. economy, a sweeping redistribution of power and wealth to government and Democratic constituencies.

The real Obama has stood up, and lived up to his ranking as the most left-wing member of the United States Senate.

He has declared war on the Right even though from the other side of his mouth he wants their input … right!

Republicans are under no obligation to render bipartisan support to this statist coup d’état. For what is going down is a leftist power grab that is anathema to their said principles and philosophy.

Where the U.S. government usually consumes 21% of gross domestic product, this Obama budget spends 28% in 2009 and runs a deficit of $1.75 trillion, or 12.7% of GDP. That is four times the largest deficit of George W. Bush and twice as large a share of the economy as any deficit run since World War II.

Add that 28% of GDP spent by the U.S. government to the 12% spent by states, counties and cities, and government will consume 40% of the economy in 2009.

We are not “headed down the road to socialism.” We are there.

Since the budget was released, word has come that the U.S. economy did not shrink by 3.8% in the fourth quarter, but 6.2%. All the assumptions in Obama’s budget about growth in 2009 and 2010 need to be revised downward, and the deficits revised upward. So, look for the deficit for 2009 to cross into $2 trillion.

Who abroad is going to lend us the trillions to finance our deficits without demanding higher interest rates on the U.S. bonds they are being asked to hold? And if we must revert to the printing press to create the money, what happens to the dollar?

As Americans save only a pittance and have lost – In the value of homes, stocks, bonds and other assets – $15 trillion to $20 trillion since 2007, how can the people provide the federal government with the needed money?

In his speech to Congress, Obama promised new investments in energy, education and health care. Every kid is going to get a college degree. We’re going to find a cure for cancer. Who is going to pay for all this?

The top 2%, those filthy rich who got all those Bush tax breaks, say Democrats. But the top 5% of income earners already pay 60% of U.S. income taxes while 40% pay nothing. So, you do the math who do you think the next target will be?

Those paying a federal tax rate of 35% will see it rise to near 40% and will lose 20% of the value of their deductions for taxes, mortgage interest and charitable contributions.

Yet, two-thirds of small businesses are taxed at the same rate as individuals. Consider what this means to the owner of a restaurant in Los Angeles, where a husband and wife each put in 80 hours a week. At year’s end, the couple finds they have actually made a profit of $500,000 that they can take home in salary. What is the tax on that salary?

Their U.S. tax rate will have hit 39.6% while their California income tax will have hit 9.55%. Then their Medicare payroll taxes on the proprietor as both employer and salaried employee will be $14,500. Add the Social Security payroll taxes for the proprietor as both employer and employee at $13,243.

In short, U.S. and state income and payroll taxes will consume half of all the pair earned for some 8,000 hours of work.

From that ravaged salary they must pay a state sales tax of 8.25%, gas taxes for the 50-mile commute, and tens of thousands in property taxes on both their restaurant and home. And, after being pilloried by politicians for having feasted in the Bush era, they are now told the tax deduction they get for contributing to the church is to be cut by 20%, while millions of Obama voters, who paid no U.S. income tax at all, will be getting a tax cut in April.

If you are a small business person in Californian is it time to flee the Golden Land … but will it be any better anywhere?

Markets are not infallible. But the stock market has long been a “lead indicator” of where the economy will be six months from now. What are the markets, the collective decisions of millions of investors, saying? Since falling every month from Obama’s election, with January and February the worst two months in history, they are telling us the stimulus package will not work, that Tim Geithner is clueless about how to save the banks, that the Obama budget portends disaster for the republic.

The president says he is gearing up for a fight on his budget. If no one fights him we all lose … if we pay taxes that is!

“Government’s view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.” as Reagan aptly put it.

DEBT #1 – $700 Billion ($700,000,000)

This out-of-control government spending started when George W. Bush lost his conservative sense and bailed out Wall Street with $700 billion.

DEBT #2 – $787 Billion ($787,000,000)

Congress didn’t learn from that failure, and apparently neither did Barack Obama as he continues to scold and blame Bush, while he spends even more. The president uses fear and pushed for the stimulus bill for $787 billion.

DEBT #3 – $410 Billion ($410,000,000)

That wasn’t enough for them so the recent $410 billion omnibus spending bill (with 9,000 earmarks – 60% of them from Democrats and 40% of them from Republicans) is currently being railroaded through Congress to keep government “moving” until September.

DEBT #4 – $634 Billion ($634,000,000)

And then Obama informed us last week that another $634 billion is required for a down payment on universal health care … without a plan in place … and this is just a payment.

DEBT #5 – $3.6 Trillion ($3,600,000,000,000)

If that isn’t enough, Obama is asking for a roughly $3.6 trillion budget for 2010 despite the fact that the White House projects a 2009 budget shortfall of $1.5 trillion which is triple the $455 billion in 2008. Whose fault is that going to be? It always seems to be someone else’s.

NOT FINISHED YET !

Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii), the chairman of the Appropriations Committee, noted when he called the mammoth $787 billion spending bill “stimulus No. 1.”, indicates other stimuli on the horizon which would be debt #6, #7, etc.

With all of these wild expenditures there are still no signs of any economic recovery. This stimulus didn’t stabilize or grow the economy and the market. All the government bailed outs and still the Dow Jones industrial average has dropped … and continues to do so. It dropped about 2,000 points since Obama took office, roughly 200 points after every major speech he has made.

So the big question is: How has Obama gotten away with racking up more expenses in his first 30 days in office than all the presidents combined since the founding of our republic did in theirs?

Bernard Goldberg’s A Slobbering Love Affair is a book about the media’s blind bias and infatuation with Obama. How Obama’s hypnotic effects permeate every stratum of society, from political corridors to public schools. Why? Because he’s young, hip, cool, liberal and charismatic – and that’s what sells today in America. Hey the President is cool … that’s more important than the reality of the chaos in America. Objectiveness and criticism fly right out the window with the mere mention of his name or any discussion of his excessive spending plans. Reality is trumped by glassy-eyed emotion.

On “Good Morning America” last Thursday, two of ABC’s Obama biased financial experts graded Obama’s excessive borrowing and fiscal performance a B, while guest financial expert Dave Ramsey in reality rated it an F. Despite the two B grades, one of ABC’s financial experts quipped that one of the biggest problems with Obama’s bailouts is that there is no real form of government accountability over the money pouring out of Washington. That is a huge problem, yet she maintained her B grade for Obama’s stewardship plan. Why? Slobbering!

As Obama addressed Congress last week, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi led the way in spontaneous emotive applause for her political hero. “Pop-up” Pelosi was bouncing up and down like a little school girl with a crush, forcing Vice President Joe Biden to rise slowly every time she jumped up, and Biden had to try to hide his frustration with her. Pelosi’s eyes and facial expressions seemed almost giddy as she gazed at Obama like a teenager infatuated with the popular high-school jock. Is this really the type of objective bipartisan leadership we want running our government, leading our nation, and spending our money?

America’s political love affair with President Obama plus the Democratic majority’s coercions in Congress equals more economic chaos with trillions of dollars in new debt for Americans. A commitment to spending caps and balancing the budget must is paramount.

The Congress of the ’90s steadied and strengthened the economy by following four priorities and principles, which are being turned on their heads at this moment by the present administration.

  • Cut taxes to increase economic growth and therefore increase revenues (unlike Obama’s tax hikes, which will retard economic growth and depress revenues).
  • Set priorities and increase spending in key areas while reducing it in nonessential areas (unlike Obama’s fiscal priorities of health care, energy and education, which are based not upon what is best for the economy but what is reflective of typical partisan preferences and doing what is politically expedient).
  • Eliminate pork-barrel spending (unlike the 9,000 earmarks in the present $410 billion omnibus spending bill, which is nothing short of absolute economic ludicrousness, mismanagement and waste within our present crisis).
  • Shift from expensive, wasteful systems to smarter spending; look at not only more inexpensive ways but also more productive ones (unlike Obama’s theory to spend our way to prosperity, which is a sure way to sink America).

The nanny state is upon us. Our Founders are rolling in their graves. Day by day Washington’s credit-crazy and debt-accumulating addiction is dissolving our sovereignty by handing our financial autonomy over to other nations. In other words, America is burning, and Obama is stoking the fire!

Time is running out, but it’s not too late to reverse Washington’s fiscal frenzy. Don’t just write to your representatives but hound them to live and legislate by the preceding four proven priorities and principles of governmental and monetary prudence.

If things don’t change, forget the college education and takes courses in hunting, fishing, farming and a good survival course … you will need it to survive.

PS: Check out your own calculations on who will be paying for this debt and how much that will be per person or family.

THE ONE PARTY CLASSROOMS OF HATE

Posted by straight shooter on March 4, 2009 under Political, Social Concerns

How is it that our universities, once the envy of the world, have become staging grounds for demonstrations in support of Hezbollah and Hamas and against Israel and America?

How have our classrooms become bizarre laboratories for radical feminists who insist that sex differences result from brutal male oppression? For Marxist ideology, when Marxism is dead and discredited everywhere other than on our campuses? For divisive propaganda about white racism when America has never been more color blind?

How, in short, did indoctrination replace education in our once-proud institutions of higher learning?

In the course offerings of 12 major academic institutions, from Columbia University on the east coast to the University of Southern California on the west coast, that comprise a representative picture of higher education in America. There are more than 150 courses that were pure indoctrination. Here are some of the examples from One Party Classroom:

  • A “Whiteness Studies” guilt curriculum at the University of Colorado, featuring classes such as “Remedial Education for White Folks,” “Whiteness: The Power of Privilege,” and “The History of Whiteness.”
  • At Arizona State University, the sociology department offers a course in “Collective Behavior and Social Movements” where students are given credit by the instructor for participating in protests organized by local gay, feminist, and pro-illegal immigration groups. If they don’t participate they fail.
  • At the University of California at Santa Cruz, a course on “The Politics of the War on Terrorism” informs students that the Bush administration lied to make the case for the war in Iraq and denies that the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center were carried out by Al Qaeda. (“How did Bush and Cheney build the fiction that al Qaeda was a participant in the 9/11 attacks?” the course description asks).

If these were only isolated examples … but alas they are the rule, not the exception. At the Columbia University Teachers’ College, for instance, prospective primary and secondary school teachers are force-fed a series of books on “Teaching for Social Justice” edited by former Weatherman Bill Ayers.

There are some 10,000 college courses in American universities and colleges teaching students to hate America, support her enemies and work for a “revolution.” Ten thousand courses devoted to indoctrination, not education.

The chance you have to turn the tables on the tenured radicals who have turned their classrooms into indoctrination chambers is by hitting the universities who ignore or enable them where are most vulnerable – in their pocketbook. Let school presidents and boards of regents know you are sick over a curriculum of indoctrination. Appalled they are teaching hatred of America and the west with malicious fictions that encourage racial, ethnic and gender division.

Similar indoctrination is rampant in the public school system. The major reason due to the teachers being education by indoctrination themselves.

DR. DEATH IS COMING TO THE “HOUSE”

Abortion Activist Chosen to Lead Federal Health Department

President Barack Obama has nominated Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to lead the Health and Human Services Department.  There is nobody in America that is more radically sold out to the abortion lobby than Kathleen Sebelius.  If confirmed, the pro-abortion governor would be in a position to profoundly influence federal and state policies on abortion, rights of conscience, bioethics and end-of-life issues.

She also would be instrumental in distributing federal funding to abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood.  “Health care” will now become an oxymoron like “Planned Parenthood” became a code word for abortion supplier.

Appointing someone who is the most pro-abortion governor in this country to be the person in charge of health care for our entire country is really just outrageous.  Sebelius’ record speaks loud and clear as she has said herself that “certain inalienable rights are not applied in utero.” (The Wichita Eagle)

As a state representative, she voted to weaken or eliminate parental-notification and informed-consent measures.  As governor, she has routinely opposed or vetoed abortion-accountability bills, including clinic-regulation legislation.  In 2008, she vetoed a measure that would have strengthened the state’s parental-notification law.

Perhaps most shocking is her support for notorious late-term abortionist George Tiller.  Sebelius honored Tiller and his friends and employees at the Governor’s Mansion in 2007.  Tiller stands trial this month on 19 counts of illegally performing late-term abortions.

There is nobody in America that is more radically sold out to the abortion lobby than Kathleen Sebelius.

ELEVEN STATES DECLARE SOVEREIGNTY OVER OBAMA’S ACTION

Posted by straight shooter on February 27, 2009 under Patriotism, Political

State governors – looking down the gun barrel of long-term spending forced on them by the Obama “stimulus” plan – are saying they will refuse to take the money. This is a Constitutional confrontation between the federal government and the states unlike any in our time.

In the first five weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has acted so rashly that at least 11 states have decided that his brand of “hope” equates to an intolerable expansion of the federal government’s authority over the states. These states – “Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, [Minnesota]…Georgia,” South Carolina, and Texas – “have all introduced bills and resolutions” reminding Obama that the 10th Amendment protects the rights of the states, which are the rights of the people, by limiting the power of the federal government. These resolutions call on Obama to “cease and desist” from his reckless government expansion and also indicate that federal laws and regulations implemented in violation of the 10th Amendment can be nullified by the states.

When the Constitution was being ratified during the 1780s, the 10th Amendment was understood to be the linchpin that held the entire Bill of Rights together. The amendment states: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

The use of the 10th Amendment in conjunction with nullification garnered much attention in 1828, when the federal government passed a tariff that southerners believed affected them disproportionately. When the 1828 tariff was complemented by another in 1832, Vice President John C. Calhoun resigned the Vice Presidency to lead his home state of South Carolina in pursuit of an “ordinance of nullification,” which was no less a declaration of the sovereignty of each individual state within the union than the declarations now being made.

Calhoun was simply exercising what he recognized to be his state’s right to defend liberty within its borders by rejecting the dictates of an overbearing central government. While his efforts culminated in a tense affair referred to as the “nullification crisis,” which witnessed everything from threats of a federal invasion of South Carolina to an ongoing and near union-rending debate over national power vs. state’s rights, they also succeeded in turning back the tariffs that had been passed in spite of the Constitutional limits on federal power.

This time around, in 2009, appeals to the 10th Amendment are not based on tariffs but on unfettered government expansion in Obama’s “stimulus bill,” federal mandates on abortion that violate state laws, and infringements on the 1st and 2nd Amendments, among other things.

For example, Family Security Matters reports that Missouri’s “House Concurrent Resolution 0004 (2009) reasserts its sovereignty based on Barack Obama’s stated intention to sign into law a federal ‘Freedom of Choice Act’, [because] the federal Freedom of Choice Act would nullify any federal or state law ‘enacted, adopted, or implemented before, on, or after the date of [its] enactment’ and would effectively prevent the State of Missouri from enacting similar protective measures in the future.”

The resolution in Montana grew out of concerns over coming attacks on the 2nd Amendment, thus its preface describes it as, “An Act Exempting From Federal Regulation Under The Commerce Clause Of The Constitution Of The United States A Firearm, A Firearm Accessory, Or Ammunition Manufactured And Retained In Montana.”

New Hampshire’s resolution actually references certain federal actions that would be nullified within that state were they pushed by Obama’s administration, according to americandaily.com. Among these are “Any act regarding religion; further limitations on freedom of political speech; or further limitations on freedom of the press, [and any] further infringements on the right to keep and bear arms including prohibitions of type or quantity of arms or ammunition.

Regardless of the specific reason behind each of the resolutions in the 11 states, all of them direct the federal government to “cease and desist” in its reckless violation of state’s rights. In this way, South Carolina’s resolution is typical of the others issued to date:

“The General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, claims for the State of South Carolina sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the United States Constitution…

Be it…resolved that this resolution serves as notice and demand to the federal government, as South Carolina’s agent, to cease and desist immediately all mandates…beyond the scope of the federal government’s constitutionally delegated powers.”

What these state assemblies and congresses have hit upon here is key to our entire conservative interpretation of the Constitution, for these states understand that the Constitution limits the federal government, not the people. Or to put it another way, it guarantees the freedom of the people by limiting the government.

Every conservative should relish the call for the federal government to “cease and desist all mandates that are beyond the scope of [its] constitutionally delegated powers.” In this way, we honor the Constitution that enumerates a number of our liberties yet also guarantees us other liberties that are neither enumerated nor denied in the document.

Liberals don’t respect the Constitution, and liberals in Congress don’t hesitate to propose legislation that would clearly violate it. The current push to give Washington, D.C. a voting representative in the House of Representatives is a good example; even liberal Prof. Jonathan Turley told a Congressional hearing that this bill is patently unconstitutional. But they press on with it.

Our Constitutional system of checks and balances is always thought of as enabling two of the three branches of the federal government to keep the third within its constitutional bounds. But there is a fourth check, the states, which also have a Constitutional function. It is to them this burden now falls. The states can choose between allowing the federal government to impose untenable conditions on them if they accept the stimulus money, or to reject it.

These eleven states have the right to reject the stimulus plan. And they must.

There is no other option. For this federal expansion will not stop unless we stand in its way with courage in our hearts and the Constitution in our hands.

“GOD” … THE NEW FOUR-LETTER WORD !

Posted by straight shooter on February 26, 2009 under Political, Religion

Christianity has become taboo in American schools. “God” has become the new four-letter word in most public schools in the United States. This has come to pass due to an elite segment of society that views God as irrelevant that has come to predominate. No God Allowed

What has happened is that these elitists – the people who seem to be manipulating American society, from the public education system to certain governmental institutions and figures – have basically decided that God is irrelevant to public discussion.

In doing this they ignore 120 million-plus people in America who take their faith seriously, who practice it, and who pay taxes to support institutions like the public schools. What that does is deny these people their religious rights and their free-speech rights.

The issue is not separation of church and state – an argument frequently cited by those who assume the secular viewpoint. The issue in such instances is the religious believer versus the secular state. It is a denial of everything this country stands for in terms of the freedoms of speech, religion, and a respect for moral tradition.

What exists now in America is akin to the old Soviet Union and China, where it is religious believers being persecuted by the state.
