WHO WILL ACTUALLY REPRESENT THE PEOPLE?

Posted by straight shooter on September 7, 2009 under Economy, General, Patriotism, Political, Social Concerns

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately, especially after all these non-elected czars being appointed. Then after watching this deal with Van Jones go down the concluding question is WHO in government actually cares about America, the people and the Constitution?

While the Van Jones controversy has been transpiring, where was the outrage from Congress, irrelevant of the party stripe, about a self avowed communist having the President’s ear. In addition to the communism thing, all of his other idiotic statements were out there, some for a long time, and still, nothing from Congress! Only after public outrage got vehement and was blasted all over Fox News (who themselves were way behind the curve on this), did some republican Congressmen voice their opposition to Jones being in any position of authority.

There should have been intense outrage at the lack of opposition from Congress. This makes me believe there are no patriots in Congress who took their roles and responsibilities, that We the People have charged them with – as in, upholding and defending the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic! Seriously, where were the brave men and women in the Congress who would rise up and put their collective foot down on this administration’s active erosion of civil rights and Constitutionality!? There was NOTHING on their sites about it. Nothing on the news (even Fox) from them about it. They were sitting back and being as quiet as the mainstream news, meanwhile Facebook, Blogs, Twitter and others were lit up and going insane crying out begging for someone, ANYONE to listen …

So as the democrats are actively looking to take this country into the realm of socialism/communism, the republicans are content to sit back and watch silently as the democrats drive the bus off the cliff! ARE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE WILLING TO LET THIS HAPPEN?

This should be an emphatic NO!!!!

Democrats, get out the hard left, this Marxist left you are in and surrounded by! Republicans, clean up your party and get your voice and feet to action, your silence is inept!

Maybe it’s time for another party … that is actually for the people?!

As usual The New York Times passed on the opportunity to publish a great op-ed letter to President Barack Obama from Lou Pritchett, a former vice president of Procter & Gamble. Pritchett worked for that company for 36 years, until his retirement in 1989.

Confirmed by the Internet watchdog Snopes, here’s a sample of what Pritchett wrote:

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me. …

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll. …

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the ‘blame America’ crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer ‘wind mills’ to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves. …

You scare me because you have begun to use ‘extortion’ tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals. …

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O’Reillys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Lou Pritchett

Thank you, Mr. Pritchett, for your love for America, honesty and willingness to risk your reputation by speaking up to this administration.

Here are some more . . .

President Obama:

You scare me because so many amazing corporate and American leaders, such as Lou Pritchett, are saying you scare them.

You scare me because after you initiate more government borrowing and bailouts than all presidents combined, you then require Congress to follow a system that is “pay-as-you-go.”

You scare me because you really do believe that going into massive amounts of debt can remedy our economy in the long run.

You scare me because your actions don’t reflect the federal governmental constraints and fiscally prudent principles of our Founding Fathers and Constitution.

You scare me because you buy and run the banking, automobile and (soon) health industries with taxpayers’ money but refuse to call it socialism.

You scare me because you claim to be a fighter for minorities and the promises of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness yet do not defend the unborn. What greater minority is there than those in the womb, against whom you already have enacted more pro-abortion laws than anyone since the Roe v. Wade decision?

You scare me because you promise to defend the U.S. against all potential enemies yet pacify those harboring terrorists, fight for the rights of combative detainees, and enable the enemies of Israel.

You scare me because your media team (including the mainstream media) seeks to label as radical or in some way penalize any opposing conservative voices … such as conservative talk show hosts, news agencies, columnists and actors.

You scare me because your media team does not address or diminish in any way your deification before the world, epitomized by the editor of Newsweek who stated on Chris Matthews’ MSNBC show: “In a way, Obama’s standing above the country, above the world. He’s sort of God.” (How much scarier can it get than representative statements like that in a republic that once stood for a balance among political powers and a government “by the people, for the people”?)

You scare me . . . period!

Obama's Inner Muslim

First he declared that America isn’t “a Christian nation.” Now President Obama is telling the world that his country is a Muslim one. In a stunning interview with France’s Canal Plus, he said, “If you actually took the number of Muslim Americans, we’d be one of the largest Muslim countries in the world.” The statement, one in a long line of White House shockers, is part of the administration’s campaign to soften the opposition to America in advance of the President’s speech to the Islamic world tomorrow. As ABC’s Jake Tapper puts it, President Obama is getting in touch with his “inner-Muslim,” even embracing “Hussein,” his once-taboo middle name.

Wednesday, the President is hoping his silky oratory will translate well in Cairo, where he will try to charm the Arab nations with his Muslim roots. While the White House may talk a good game, this President’s agenda is the embodiment of every immorality the Islamic world detests about the West. In five months, his policies have endorsed global promiscuity, sodomy, and abortion. Just last Friday, his Baghdad embassy presided over the region’s first “drag party” in the middle of a war zone. Like a growing number of Americans, the Middle East sees the tension between the President’s rhetoric and the global reality. This kind of duplicity only fans the flames of anti-American sentiment.

While the President speaks of peace and reconciliation on the Arab stage, American soldiers are being gunned down in the U.S. by Muslim converts. On Monday, a 24-year-old Army recruiter was killed and another wounded by Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammed in Arkansas. The suspect admitted to the killing, blaming “what [the Army] had done to Muslims in the past.”

As Gary Bauer pointed out in his End of Day, “President Obama, who immediately condemned the murder of abortionist George Tiller on Sunday, still has not – 24 hours later – said one word about the cowardly attack on these soldiers. The U.S. Justice Department, which sent federal marshals yesterday to guard abortion clinics, has sent no one to guard our military recruitment offices, even though more than 100 of those offices have been attacked in recent years … I guess he was just too busy pouring over his … proclamation declaring June ‘Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Month.'”

Our government views all opponents of abortion, illegal immigration, and policy disagreement as terrorist threats. This DHS report was sent to our law enforcement to “watch us!”

The Department of Homeland Security officials have issued a report which links people with pro-life, anti-illegal immigration views, teachers of end-time prophecies, and veterans of war with “right-wing extremist” groups.

In an intelligence assessment issued to law enforcement last week, Homeland Security officials said there was no specific information about an attack in the works by right-wing extremists. But, watch how anyone who agrees with biblical teaching will be included! DHS warns that an extended economic downturn with real estate foreclosures, unemployment, and an inability to obtain credit could foster an environment for extremists to recruit members who may not have been supportive of these causes in the past. In other words, anyone who disagrees with the new government policies have to be watched.

The latest assessment started making its way into the mainstream press after conservative blogs got wind of the analysis. In the unclassified report – “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment” – the agency warns that by not imposing new restrictions on firearms and the return of military veterans who have difficulties assimilating back into their communities could lead to terror groups or individuals attempting to carry out attacks. The returning war veterans have skills and experience that are appealing to right-wing groups looking to carry out an attack, according to the report. Well, that’s a slap in the face to our military heroes … and those who have died for this county!

The report says right-wing extremism in the United states can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily “hate-oriented” and those that are mainly anti-government, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority or rejecting government authority entirely. Again, anti-government being anyone who is not in agreement with the present leadership and policies.

According to the Homeland Security document, right-wing extremism “may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as abortion or immigration.” So Christians and churches are once again in the crosshairs due to a stand on the sanctity of life – now anyone against abortion is a potential threat … terrorist.

The report goes on to say that “many right-wing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship, the expansion of social programs to minorities, and restrictions on firearms ownership and use.”

The Homeland Security report also makes reference to the rise of right-wing extremism in the 1990s and says factors which enhanced the movement were opposition to things such as abortion and same-sex “marriage.” Anyone on the right by the DHS description is beginning to look like an extremist. I am thinking that if you utilize your freedom of speech and it does not fit the government criteria the you become an extremist … soon to be terrorist. What baloney!

It also says “antigovernment conspiracy theories and ‘end times’ prophecies could motivate extremist individuals and groups to stockpile food, ammunition, and weapons.”

The message I seem to be getting here is … forget the real terrorists … watch law abiding Americans who just disagree. Sounds like the denied socialistic tendencies are being ratcheted up to communistic ones! These are Marxist thoughts.

Does the release of this report cause the image of the DHS to begin to look a bit Gestapo-like … or is it just the imagination of a Christian seeing potential persecution … from history?

ELEVEN STATES DECLARE SOVEREIGNTY OVER OBAMA’S ACTION

Posted by straight shooter on February 27, 2009 under Patriotism, Political

State governors – looking down the gun barrel of long-term spending forced on them by the Obama “stimulus” plan – are saying they will refuse to take the money. This is a Constitutional confrontation between the federal government and the states unlike any in our time.

In the first five weeks of his presidency, Barack Obama has acted so rashly that at least 11 states have decided that his brand of “hope” equates to an intolerable expansion of the federal government’s authority over the states. These states – “Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, [Minnesota]…Georgia,” South Carolina, and Texas – “have all introduced bills and resolutions” reminding Obama that the 10th Amendment protects the rights of the states, which are the rights of the people, by limiting the power of the federal government. These resolutions call on Obama to “cease and desist” from his reckless government expansion and also indicate that federal laws and regulations implemented in violation of the 10th Amendment can be nullified by the states.

When the Constitution was being ratified during the 1780s, the 10th Amendment was understood to be the linchpin that held the entire Bill of Rights together. The amendment states: “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

The use of the 10th Amendment in conjunction with nullification garnered much attention in 1828, when the federal government passed a tariff that southerners believed affected them disproportionately. When the 1828 tariff was complemented by another in 1832, Vice President John C. Calhoun resigned the Vice Presidency to lead his home state of South Carolina in pursuit of an “ordinance of nullification,” which was no less a declaration of the sovereignty of each individual state within the union than the declarations now being made.

Calhoun was simply exercising what he recognized to be his state’s right to defend liberty within its borders by rejecting the dictates of an overbearing central government. While his efforts culminated in a tense affair referred to as the “nullification crisis,” which witnessed everything from threats of a federal invasion of South Carolina to an ongoing and near union-rending debate over national power vs. state’s rights, they also succeeded in turning back the tariffs that had been passed in spite of the Constitutional limits on federal power.

This time around, in 2009, appeals to the 10th Amendment are not based on tariffs but on unfettered government expansion in Obama’s “stimulus bill,” federal mandates on abortion that violate state laws, and infringements on the 1st and 2nd Amendments, among other things.

For example, Family Security Matters reports that Missouri’s “House Concurrent Resolution 0004 (2009) reasserts its sovereignty based on Barack Obama’s stated intention to sign into law a federal ‘Freedom of Choice Act’, [because] the federal Freedom of Choice Act would nullify any federal or state law ‘enacted, adopted, or implemented before, on, or after the date of [its] enactment’ and would effectively prevent the State of Missouri from enacting similar protective measures in the future.”

The resolution in Montana grew out of concerns over coming attacks on the 2nd Amendment, thus its preface describes it as, “An Act Exempting From Federal Regulation Under The Commerce Clause Of The Constitution Of The United States A Firearm, A Firearm Accessory, Or Ammunition Manufactured And Retained In Montana.”

New Hampshire’s resolution actually references certain federal actions that would be nullified within that state were they pushed by Obama’s administration, according to americandaily.com. Among these are “Any act regarding religion; further limitations on freedom of political speech; or further limitations on freedom of the press, [and any] further infringements on the right to keep and bear arms including prohibitions of type or quantity of arms or ammunition.

Regardless of the specific reason behind each of the resolutions in the 11 states, all of them direct the federal government to “cease and desist” in its reckless violation of state’s rights. In this way, South Carolina’s resolution is typical of the others issued to date:

“The General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, claims for the State of South Carolina sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the United States Constitution…

Be it…resolved that this resolution serves as notice and demand to the federal government, as South Carolina’s agent, to cease and desist immediately all mandates…beyond the scope of the federal government’s constitutionally delegated powers.”

What these state assemblies and congresses have hit upon here is key to our entire conservative interpretation of the Constitution, for these states understand that the Constitution limits the federal government, not the people. Or to put it another way, it guarantees the freedom of the people by limiting the government.

Every conservative should relish the call for the federal government to “cease and desist all mandates that are beyond the scope of [its] constitutionally delegated powers.” In this way, we honor the Constitution that enumerates a number of our liberties yet also guarantees us other liberties that are neither enumerated nor denied in the document.

Liberals don’t respect the Constitution, and liberals in Congress don’t hesitate to propose legislation that would clearly violate it. The current push to give Washington, D.C. a voting representative in the House of Representatives is a good example; even liberal Prof. Jonathan Turley told a Congressional hearing that this bill is patently unconstitutional. But they press on with it.

Our Constitutional system of checks and balances is always thought of as enabling two of the three branches of the federal government to keep the third within its constitutional bounds. But there is a fourth check, the states, which also have a Constitutional function. It is to them this burden now falls. The states can choose between allowing the federal government to impose untenable conditions on them if they accept the stimulus money, or to reject it.

These eleven states have the right to reject the stimulus plan. And they must.

There is no other option. For this federal expansion will not stop unless we stand in its way with courage in our hearts and the Constitution in our hands.

Obama leads America down the road of death.

Americans watched on television as President Bush’s jumbo jet soared out of sight Tuesday – and with him, a long record of protecting the unborn. The Obama administration was just a little over 24 hours old when the new President’s anti-family anti-life promises were officially unveiled on the new White House website.

Obama's Pro-Life? PolicyMinutes after Obama took the oath of office, the transfer of power was made complete on the White House website. The page, once home to a host of family values, now welcomes an extreme collection of anti-life, anti-woman, and anti-family agendas. Disguised under the caption “civil rights,” Obama pledges to fight for nationwide civil unions, repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, homosexual adoption, the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, expanded “hate crimes,” and over 1,100 costly same-sex benefits. He promises to repeal “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” as well as block a federal amendment to preserve marriage. In exchange for the support of groups like Planned Parenthood, the multi-billion dollar abortion business is also due for a rich payoff from the 44th president, including his support of abortion-on-demand, more funding for “family planning” programs, embryonic stem cell experiments, and tax-funded abortion.

Barack Obama had pledged (if anyone was listening to what he was saying instead of worshipping their new messiah) to overturn virtually all abortion restrictions, upend the Defense of Marriage Act, and bring open homosexuality into the armed forces … and that’s just what he did. Congress has lurched further to the left, making this almost certainly the most liberal Congress in the history of our nation. Solid majorities in both the House and Senate stand ready to march lock-step with Obama’s agenda.

Obama has pledged, and now enacted, the most radical pro-abortion agenda in American history. He did what he said, “The first thing I’d do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act” (FOCA). Toppling FOCA overturns hundreds of pro-life measures and partial-birth abortion.

This toppling is the work of the foolish * … whether they call themselves Christians or not. The evidence of  true believers are those who are obedient to God’s Word and demonstrat the fruits of the Spirit. Until Obama demonstrates this, don’t try to tell me he is a Christian … church attendance and words are a sorry excuse for the evidence of obedience to God. I wish the evidence in Obama’s life was different … but at this point in time is isn’t.

I ask you to pray for a change of heart for President Obama. Also, for those who would put their own interests, emotions and desires before God’s Word and directives and think that it is okay. It is not!

The interesting thing is that if this kind of evil legislation was accepted as the norm when Obama was conceived he very likely would never have become the first black president of the United States of American … he would have just been another statistic.

* The Old Testament. Several Hebrew words are rendered “fool,” with nuances ranging all the way from the naive but teachable person (Prov 14:15 peti [yit.P], derived from the Hebrew root meaning “open, ” hence impressionable ) to the hopelessly incorrigible person who deserves no corrective efforts since such will be in vain (Prov 26:3 kesil [lyis.K]). In most cases the context will help the reader determine which of the many meanings is to be preferred.

The heaviest concentration of the Hebrew words referring to foolishness is in the Wisdom literature, where the fool is constantly contrasted with the wise. The fool is not so much stupid (except when the context demands such a meaning) as immoral and pernicious. The fool’s problem is not so much intellectual as practical and spiritual. In fact, the terms “wise” and “fool” are used by the sages to designate respectively the faithful and the sinners.

A further insight into the nature of the fool is provided by the Hebrew word nabal [l’b”n]. This is the word used in Psalm 14:1, where the fool declares, “There is no God.” Not only is the fool immoral, he is also godless. His mind is closed to God (as Nabal’s mind was closed to reason 1 Sam 25:25). He conducts his life without any recognition of God and thus is corrupt and perverse (Psalms 14:1 Psalms 14:3). He does not fear the Lord and hence knows nothing of wisdom (Prov 1:29). The same Hebrew term is also applied to the nations. Wisdom is seen as the gift of God, expressed in the Torah. To be without it as the Gentile nations were (Deut 32:21) or to ignore it as Israel did (Deut 32:6) is to be foolish.

* The New Testament. There are fewer Greek terms employed for the fool and these are essentially negative, indicating that the fool is lacking in sense and intelligence. The gravity of the condition of the fool can be seen in the warning of Jesus that to call a person such is to be in danger of “the fire of hell” (Matt 5:22). The designation “fool” is considerably more derogatory than other terms of abuse. Clearly, to be a fool in this biblical sense is a serious matter.

Paul makes frequent ironic reference to foolishness, particularly in 1 and 2 Corinthians. He deprecates the wisdom of the world, which characterizes God’s action in Jesus as nonsensical and scandalous. Human understanding erroneously takes God’s wisdom to be foolishness and God’s strength to be weakness since God’s actions do not fit human reason or expectation. Indeed, from a worldly perspective God uses the foolish thing and calls the foolish person (1 Cor 1:27-28).

Elsewhere in the New Testament foolish has a more conventional sense. Believers are urged not to be foolish (Eph 5:15-16) and to distinguish carefully between heavenly and earthly wisdom (Jas 3:13-18).

This negative attitude toward foolishness is understandable when its practices are observed. Among these practices are: relying on earthly wealth (Luke 12:20); failing to recognize that the ministry of Jesus is God’s visitation to claim his own bride (Matt 25:1-13); turning away from the gospel of grace to legalism (Gal 3:1-3); worshiping the creature rather than the Creator (Rom 1:18-23); and abrogating the demands of God with meaningless distinctions (Matt 23:16-22). Perhaps even more significant than the above characteristics is a failure to act on the words of Jesus by building a house without an adequate foundation (Matt 7:26-27), and a failure to believe the good news of Jesus’ resurrection (Luke 24:25 here the foolish are described as “slow of heart” the Old Testament expression is “without heart, ” without understanding, as in Prov 9:16). The believer is not to be foolish, but to “understand what the Lord’s will is” (Eph 5:17).

CHUCK NORRIS SPEAKS OUT !

Posted by straight shooter on November 4, 2008 under Abortion, Patriotism, Political, Social Concerns, Theological Concerns

I’m Voting For Those Not Yet Born

By Chuck Norris

My, how the landscape of elections has changed. Remember when the issue of abortion used to matter to conservatives in political races? Today presidential nominees can get away with murder, literally. They can smoke, toke and hang out with terrorists who do. What were once considered legitimate leadership litmus tests are now regarded as off-limit character assassinations and hate language. Recently, some nonprofit organizations have been threatened with the withdrawal of their tax-exempt statuses because their leaders merely voiced opposition to what they consider a moral issue: abortion.

Chuck Norris

Some people think after 35 years of ceaseless controversy since the Supreme Court’s ruling in Roe v. Wade that abortion is an “old” issue better dropped. I disagree. I do believe the economy is an important issue in this election, but it’s certainly not the only issue. We can’t just be concerned about our finances. We also must be concerned about America’s future and those who will occupy it. Our posterity matters. Their rights matter. And that includes their “unalienable Rights,” with which they have been “endowed by their Creator,” and among them are the quintessential rights: “Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.”

Abortion is not about a woman’s “right to choose”; it is about a more fundamental “right to life,” which is one of three specifically identified unalienable rights in the Declaration of Independence (and the Constitution, through Article VII and the Bill of Rights). And it is a violation of government’s primary purpose: to protect innocent life.

Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1809, “The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government.” He was not, of course, writing about the America of today, with state-sanctioned and even subsidized abortion and a movement to promote the killing of the elderly through euthanasia. But he could have been. His belief in what should be “the first and only legitimate object of good government” still should stand. Like Jefferson, our next president needs to uphold those same concerns, not say that such arenas are “above his paygrade.” If he and his administration won’t protect the rights of the living (even in the womb), then who will? A left-leaning Congress?

The truth is if Obama is elected, we will place a man in the highest office in the land who has the most liberal views and voting record on abortion of any president in American history. As a state senator in Illinois, he led opposition three years in a row (2001-2003) to a bill similar to the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, which prevents the killing of babies unintentionally left alive by abortions. He also opposed the ban on partial-birth abortion and strongly disapproved of the Supreme Court’s decision to uphold the partial-birth ban. He also voted to block a bill that would have required a doctor to notify at least one parent before performing an abortion on a minor from another state. He does not support the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding of abortion through Medicaid. Before a Planned Parenthood Action Fund last year, Obama promised to give first priority as president to the signing of the Freedom of Choice Act, which would make partial-birth abortion legal again. Strangely, Obama even once said he would not want his daughters to be “punished with a baby” caused by an unwanted pregnancy. With the next president likely adding two justices to the U.S. Supreme Court, it is clear that as president, Obama would appoint and support the most liberal judges and legal eagles, resulting in a pro-abortion advantage in our courts that would push abortion liberties to every extent of the law and land.

America’s Founders shared a basic view of human life and conception: Humanity is special, unique and should be set apart from the rest of creation. In fact, in early America, there were two basic beliefs that shaped most people’s views of humanity: God created us equal, and we are the highest creation of God. Their views were based on creation narratives in the Bible and expressed in the Declaration of Independence. In order for us to get back to our Founders’ understanding, we need to get back to a view of humanity that emphasizes the immortal worth of every human being. (That’s why I’ve devoted an entire chapter to “Reclaim the value of human life” in my new cultural manifesto, “Black Belt Patriotism.”)

My friend and prolific author Randy Alcorn recently was asked by a young woman, “Should we vote for who we think should lead our country solely based on their stance on abortion?” You can read Randy’s insightful response to that question on his Web site and blog (www.epm.org). I would respond to it by simply saying we all will answer that question in just one week, when we go to the ballot boxes.

Winning the election is not just about what the underdogs – such as John McCain and Sarah Palin, two maverick pro-life advocates – should do. But it’s about what the citizens who are fighting for the underdogs can do. We the people must stand up, go back to the basics, and once again vote our values.

STOP GIVING INTO ISLAMIC DEMANDS IN AMERICA !

Posted by straight shooter on September 20, 2008 under Patriotism, Political, Religion

Once again Muslims make demands in America … and outrageously another company caves into their demands. They demanded to have breaks and meals times changed to accommodate Islam’s Ramadan.

In fact, earlier this week 300 Muslims walked off the job at a JBS Swift & Company meatpacking facility in Grand Island, Nebraska, and marched on city hall, complaining that they were denied time to pray at sunset during their month of Ramadan. Then, two days later the union announced that the company agreed to accommodate the Muslims’ demands.

On Wednesday the president of the local United Food and Commercial Workers Union said management at the Nebraska plant had agreed to temporarily change the timing of the second-shift lunch break to accommodate workers wanting time to pray at sunset during the Muslim observance of Ramadan. The company says the arrangement will be in effect for the remainder of Ramadan – through the end of this month.

This is not the first time Muslims have foisted their religious demands on private companies. At the Hormel plant in Austin, Minnesota the exact same problem took place. Not only that, this is going on all over the country. This is not localized to just one or two or three meatpacking plants. In fact, a similar incident happened recently at a Swift plant in Greeley, Colorado.

Groups of Muslims are demanding that others accommodate to their ways. They are trying to set a trend in America where their wishes and their holidays and their prayer time will be absolutely not only acknowledged but honored.

It is wrong to cave to the demands of those who are not Americans. Is there another nation on the earth where we can infiltrate and try to force our ways, beliefs, and culture on their citizens? No! Americans do not make those kinds of demands – and definitely no one would accommodate us in their homelands. Islam has become the politically correct religion of choice if America and if this trend continues, we are in serious trouble here.

If the non-Muslim employees walked off to city hall to protest the moving of their lunch hour, they would be fired. What other job do you know of where you can just walk out and not be fired on the spot? If they want to pray during their lunch hour … fine, but don’t ask everyone else to move their lunch hour. Christians cannot insist on a specific time off to pray. They have no choice on working on Sundays … they would be fired.

When people accept their job, they accept the condition of employment. Work time, place, benefits, salary, etc. This was a wildcat strike. Swift should have fired all of them. It would have sent a clear message to all Muslims in this country. If you don’t like it you can leave anytime you wish.

I say that when anybody comes to America from another nation legally they need to assimilate into our culture – not demand America to change to accommodate them. If they are illegal … it is time for them to return to where they came from. Muslims in America need to understand that they are not in a Muslim governed country. If they can’t handle that they need to go back to their country of origin.

You don’t realize how much he is missed until you read and remember some of the stuff he said … and stood for!
