OBAMA SHOWS ONCE AGAIN HIS LACK OF DECENCY

Posted by straight shooter on September 20, 2008 under Political

A campaign ad mocking Republican presidential candidate John McCain’s computer literacy is backfiring on Democratic rival Barak Hussein Obama in some very painful ways.

While McCain himself has often joked about his ignorance of email and phone texting, the Vietnam veteran rarely goes into the reason … that his hands and fingers were shattered by wartime torture, making it painful to keyboard for any length of time.

That revelation has been buried in a Boston Globe story for nearly a decade and was uncovered by National Review columnist Jonah Goldberg last week. The news has enraged McCain supporters and stirred up political blogs.

The article, published on March 4, 2000 says: “McCain gets emotional at the mention of military families needing food stamps or veterans lacking health care. The outrage comes from inside: McCain’s severe war injuries prevent him from combing his hair, typing on a keyboard, or tying his shoes. Friends marvel at McCain’s encyclopedic knowledge of sports. He’s an avid fan – Ted Williams is his hero – but he can’t raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.”

You wouldn’t know any of that from looking at the Obama ad, which mocks McCain as a techno-dolt. In a photograph taken from the early 1980s, he’s shown wearing giant glasses and a period suit. To hammer home the point that he’s out of touch, the ad features shots of a disco ball, antique computers and large, first-generation cell phones.

The ad was supposed to be the first stage of the new, gloves-off, Obama strategy to counter the popular rise of Sarah Palin. But the campaign is now sensitive that it might be perceived as mocking the handicapped. A campaign that is busy telling the voters that McCain isn’t living up to his word on the clean campaign he said he was going to pursue … well, since Barak Hussein Obama decided to take that route things changed and the gloves are now off.

McCain has long been praised as one of the tech-savviest members of the U.S. Senate and in 2000, Slate.com cited McCain for what it described as a web first: “the first-ever cyberfundraiser.” The article also noted that McCain’s war wounds limited him at the keyboard, but described him as an enthusiast who embraced Silicon Valley entrepreneurs like Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos. That same year, Forbes magazine described McCain as the “Senate’s savviest technologist.”

Barak Hussein Obama and his team once again show their lack of integrity as they endeavor to take America into the arms of socialism.

IS IT A CRASH OR ARE WE JUST REWARDING BAD BEHAVIOR … GREED !

Posted by straight shooter on September 20, 2008 under Political, Social Concerns

A trillion dollars in loans! Why is the taxpayers’ money even being utilized? Let the sorry lot borrow from someone else. For the most part mismanagement has been the order of the day. These corporations have looked out for themselves, with greedy salaries and greedy boards. Now the time, they knew was inevitable, has come.

Then we have the left seizing on the crisis telling us we are witnessing the failure of market economics … a failure of conservatism. This is nonsense! What we are witnessing is the collapse of the philosophical “Greed Is Good!” brand of capitalism … capitalism without morals. What we are witnessing is what happens to a prodigal nation that ignores history, and forgets and abandons the philosophy and principles that made it great.

A true conservative cherishes forethought and believes in fiscal responsibility, balanced budgets, and a self-reliant republic. He believes in saving for retirement and a rainy day, in deferred gratification, in not buying on credit what you cannot afford, and in living within your means. Something most of America is NOT doing! Then, we lend money to people who should not be approved because they can’t cover it.

For years, we Americans have spent more than we earned. We save nothing. Credit card debt, consumer debt, auto debt, mortgage debt, corporate debt – all are at record levels. And with pensions and savings being wiped out, much of that debt will never be repaid.

Our standard of living is inevitably going to fall. Foreigners will not forever buy our bonds or lend us more money if they rightly fear that they will be paid back, if at all, in cheaper dollars.

We are going to have to learn to live again without our means … the party’s over!

Up through World War II, we followed the idea that America must remain economically independent of the world in order to remain politically independent. But this left-leaning generation decided that we must march bravely forward into a socialistic Global Economy, where we all depend on one another. American companies morphed into “global companies” and moved plants and factories to Mexico, Asia, China and India, and we began buying more cheaply from abroad what we used to make at home: shoes, clothes, bikes, cars, radios, TVs, planes, computers.

As the trade deficits began inescapably to rise to 6% of GDP, we began vast borrowing from abroad to continue buying from abroad.

At home, propelled by tax cuts, war in Iraq and an explosion in social spending, surpluses vanished and deficits reappeared and began to rise. The dollar began to sink, and gold began to soar.

Yet, still, the promises of the politicians come. Barack Obama will give us national health insurance and tax cuts for all but that 2% of the nation that already carries 50% of the federal income tax load.

Then, John McCain is going to cut taxes, expand the military, move NATO into Georgia and Ukraine, confront Russia and force Iran to stop enriching uranium.

Who are we kidding? What we are witnessing today is how empires end. We are unable to defend our borders, protect our currency, or balance our budget. We are witnessing today nothing less than a Katrina-like failure of government, of our political class, and of democracy itself, casting a cloud over the viability and longevity of the system.

Who is managing the crisis? Not our elected leaders! The Democrats talk about all they are doing … they have the majorities in both the house and the senate … but they have done nothing! Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid say it’s not their fault – then whose it? They keep saying it is all the Republicans’ fault but they are the ones in power.

There is no consistency in who gets bailed out and who doesn’t. Hank Paulson of Goldman Sachs and Ben Bernanke of the Fed chose to bail out Bear Sterns but let Lehman go under. They decided to nationalize Fannie and Freddie at a cost to taxpayers of hundreds of billions, putting the U.S. government behind $5 trillion in mortgages. (Many of those mortgages should never have been assigned.) Then they decided to assist AIG with $85 billion rather than see the insurance giant sink beneath the waves, who by the way has a trillion dollars in assets … so sell some assets and pay for it yourselves!

Now we have an unelected financial elite entrusted with the assignment of getting America out of a disaster into which an unelected financial elite plunged the nation. Now we watch the consequences of these foxes that have already raided the henhouse, while we reward them for bad behavior.

What the Greatest Generation handed down to us – the richest, most powerful, most self-sufficient republic in history, with the highest standard of living any nation had ever achieved – will never be the same because of greed … capitalism without morals. But we can’t expect morals when we deny God’s instructions on how to live!

STOP GIVING INTO ISLAMIC DEMANDS IN AMERICA !

Posted by straight shooter on September 20, 2008 under Patriotism, Political, Religion

Once again Muslims make demands in America … and outrageously another company caves into their demands. They demanded to have breaks and meals times changed to accommodate Islam’s Ramadan.

In fact, earlier this week 300 Muslims walked off the job at a JBS Swift & Company meatpacking facility in Grand Island, Nebraska, and marched on city hall, complaining that they were denied time to pray at sunset during their month of Ramadan. Then, two days later the union announced that the company agreed to accommodate the Muslims’ demands.

On Wednesday the president of the local United Food and Commercial Workers Union said management at the Nebraska plant had agreed to temporarily change the timing of the second-shift lunch break to accommodate workers wanting time to pray at sunset during the Muslim observance of Ramadan. The company says the arrangement will be in effect for the remainder of Ramadan – through the end of this month.

This is not the first time Muslims have foisted their religious demands on private companies. At the Hormel plant in Austin, Minnesota the exact same problem took place. Not only that, this is going on all over the country. This is not localized to just one or two or three meatpacking plants. In fact, a similar incident happened recently at a Swift plant in Greeley, Colorado.

Groups of Muslims are demanding that others accommodate to their ways. They are trying to set a trend in America where their wishes and their holidays and their prayer time will be absolutely not only acknowledged but honored.

It is wrong to cave to the demands of those who are not Americans. Is there another nation on the earth where we can infiltrate and try to force our ways, beliefs, and culture on their citizens? No! Americans do not make those kinds of demands – and definitely no one would accommodate us in their homelands. Islam has become the politically correct religion of choice if America and if this trend continues, we are in serious trouble here.

If the non-Muslim employees walked off to city hall to protest the moving of their lunch hour, they would be fired. What other job do you know of where you can just walk out and not be fired on the spot? If they want to pray during their lunch hour … fine, but don’t ask everyone else to move their lunch hour. Christians cannot insist on a specific time off to pray. They have no choice on working on Sundays … they would be fired.

When people accept their job, they accept the condition of employment. Work time, place, benefits, salary, etc. This was a wildcat strike. Swift should have fired all of them. It would have sent a clear message to all Muslims in this country. If you don’t like it you can leave anytime you wish.

I say that when anybody comes to America from another nation legally they need to assimilate into our culture – not demand America to change to accommodate them. If they are illegal … it is time for them to return to where they came from. Muslims in America need to understand that they are not in a Muslim governed country. If they can’t handle that they need to go back to their country of origin.

You don’t realize how much he is missed until you read and remember some of the stuff he said … and stood for!

CATCHING WILD PIGS !

Posted by straight shooter on September 15, 2008 under Political, Social Concerns

There was a Chemistry professor in a large college that had some exchange students in the class.  One day while the class was in the lab the Professor noticed one young man (an exchange student) who kept rubbing his back, and stretching as if his back hurt.

The professor asked the young man what was the matter.  The student told him he had a bullet lodged in his back.  He had been shot while fighting communists in his native country who were trying to overthrow his country’s government and install a communist government.

In the midst of his story he looked at the professor and asked a strange question.  He asked, ‘Do you know how to catch wild pigs?’

The professor thought it was a joke and asked for the punch line.  The young man said this was no joke.

“You catch wild pigs by finding a suitable place in the woods and putting corn on the ground.  The pigs find it and begin to come everyday to eat the free corn.  When they are used to coming every day, you put a fence down one side of the place where they are used to coming.  When they get used to the fence, they begin to eat the corn again and you put up another side of the fence.  They get used to that and start to eat again.  You continue until you have all four sides of the fence up with a gate in the last side.  The pigs that are used to the free corn start to come through the gate to eat, and then you slam the gate on them and catch the whole herd.

Suddenly the wild pigs have lost their freedom.  They run around and around inside the fence, but they are caught.  Soon they go back to eating the free corn.  They are so used to it that they have forgotten how to forage in the woods for themselves, so they accept their captivity.”

The young man then told the professor that is exactly what he sees happening to America.  The government keeps pushing us toward socialism and keeps spreading the free corn out in the form of programs such as supplemental income, tax credit for unearned income, tobacco subsidies, dairy subsidies, payments not to plant crops (CRP), welfare, medicine, drugs, etc, etc, etc. … while we continue to lose our freedoms – just a little at a time.

One should always remember: There is no such thing as a free Lunch!  Also, a politician will never provide a service for you cheaper than you can do it yourself.

So, if you see that all of this wonderful government ‘help’ is a problem confronting the future of democracy in America, you might want to send this on to your friends.  If you think the free ride is essential to your way of life then you will probably delete this, but God help you when the gate slams shut!

In this ‘very important’ election year, listen closely to what the candidates are promising you – just maybe, you will be able to tell who is about to slam the gate on America.
