MORE OBAMA-CARE SMOKE AND MIRRORS

If things are on the up and up and so good for people … why do you need to stage it and filter out real concerns and real facts?

Welcome To Obamacare Theater

Michelle Malkin – Syndicated Columnist – 7/6/2009 8:35:00 AM

The White House sure likes to put on a show.  Fresh off its joint stage production with ABC News, the Obama administration broadcast another healthcare propaganda play last week under the guise of a citizen “town hall.”

Chicago consigliere and senior adviser Valerie Jarrett managed the floor and human props for Obama.  In a telling moment as the event kicked off, she protested a wee bit much: “I want to emphasize that the president has not seen the questions ahead of time.”  The audience responded with polite laughter.

But the denials of pre-planning and stacked decks deserve nothing but derisive mockery.  Obama’s town hall was filled with backroom players and a supporting cast of socialized medicine activists and ideologues.  One of the three lucky audience members whom Obama chose for questioning was Jason Rosenbaum.  Rosenbaum works for the Washington, DC-based Health Care for America Now (HCAN).  That’s the same K Street Astroturf outfit I reported on last week – the one with a $40 million budget to lobby for government-run healthcare.  The one inextricably linked to left-wing billionaire George Soros.

Let’s look at who else miraculously drew a golden ticket.  Another one of the three softball-tossing citizen questioners at the White House forum identified herself as a member of the Service Employees International Union.  That’s the same SEIU whose president, Andy Stern, boasted of spending nearly $61 million in members’ dues to elect Barack Obama.  It’s the same union that produced Patrick Gaspard, former SEIU healthcare lobbyist and now White House director of the Office of Political Affairs.

But the Obama healthcare town hall’s climactic moment came when the consoler in chief plucked Debby Smith from the crowd to tell her personal healthcare horror story.  She choked back tears as she talked of her battle with kidney cancer, her joblessness, and her lack of insurance.  Obama hugged the trembling woman and dubbed her “Exhibit A” for his massive entitlement program.

Debby Smith, however, is no ordinary patient.  While she may be “unemployed,” she has been rather busy working for the Obama campaign – as a volunteer for Organizing for America.  It’s the old Obama for Change political machine now housed under the Democratic National Committee.  Smith has also identified herself as a worker for the Virginia Organizing Project, which has been coordinating lobbying trips and healthcare forums with HCAN.  Yes, that same HCAN.

In December, Smith moderated “a community discussion on healthcare issues” in Appalachia, VA, and told her local paper that the meeting “would be reported back to former Sen. Tom Daschle, who has been directed by President-elect Barack Obama to form a committee to report on healthcare issues.”

Daschle may be out of the spotlight since his Health and Human Services Cabinet-nomination fiasco.  But he is in constant contact with Team Obama.  As he told The Associated Press earlier this week in a media meeting on healthcare reform, “We interact with them daily.”  No doubt.

Veteran liberal journalist Helen Thomas earned some accolades for challenging the tightly controlled White House events.  But where was she back in March, when Team Obama pulled the same stunt?  At a healthcare event in the East Room, the questioners included an Obama donor, a Democratic National Committee member, a former Democratic candidate for the Virginia statehouse who had publicly endorsed Obama and a member of the SEIU.  Yes, that SEIU.

The growing irritation of the once-smitten Beltway media is better late than never, I suppose.  But one wonders what took so long for the sedatives to wear off the watchdogs.  Team Obama has screamed “kabuki” from day one.

When color trumps Christianity

Star Parker – Syndicated Columnist – 7/6/2009 7:20:00 AM

Star ParkerPresident Obama hosted a reception at the White House celebrating LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) Pride month. Black Christians should take note and learn a few things about our black president.

As they say, we are what we do.

It tells us something that Mr. Obama had no time to host an event for the National Day of Prayer. Nor did he have time to accept the invitation to convey greetings and a few remarks to the couple hundred thousand who came to Washington, as they do every January, for the March for Life.

However, the LGBT Pride event did make it onto the president’s busy schedule.

Here are parts of his remarks I think noteworthy for black Christians:

First, we now know that Mr. Obama buys into reasoning equating the homosexual political movement to the black civil rights movement: “… it’s not for me to tell you to be patient any more than it was for others to counsel patience to African Americans who were petitioning for equal rights a half century ago.”

Perhaps Obama can extend some of his famous empathy to a black Christian woman, Crystal Dixon, who lost her University of Toledo job for writing a column in her local paper challenging this premise. Dixon was fired for being uppity enough to write “… I take great umbrage at the notion that those choosing the homosexual lifestyle are ‘civil rights victims’ … I cannot wake up tomorrow and not be a black woman.”

Considering our president’s priorities, I recall a song popular during the civil rights movement: “Which Side Are You On?”

Second, Obama sees the black community as being a little slow on the uptake to grasp that homosexuality and same-sex marriage are okay. There still are those, according to him, “who don’t yet fully embrace their gay brothers and sisters …” He deals with this, he said, by talking about it in front of “unlikely audiences,” such as, “in front of African American church members.”

Maybe a lot of us black folks, still readin’ our Bibles, just haven’t had enough of that Harvard learnin’.

And, third, Obama talked about HIV/AIDS but didn’t bother to mention that it’s overwhelmingly blacks that this scourge is killing.

Why would our black president discuss HIV/AIDS and not mention that although blacks represent 12% of our population, they account for 50% of HIV/AIDS cases and half of HIV-related deaths? Or that the incidence of HIV/AIDS infection per every 100,000 people is nine times higher among blacks than whites?

Of course, it would have been bad form for Obama to sour the punch bowl at the LBGT Pride month festivities by mentioning the disproportionate toll this lifestyle takes on blacks.

Blacks, of course, made the difference in getting Proposition 8 passed in California, which defined marriage as between a man and a woman. They then switched over and voted for Obama.

Obama has said he opposes same-sex marriage. Can this really be so? He said at the White House event that he’s called for Congress to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act. DOMA is the main obstacle to nationalizing legalization of same-sex marriage.

Black Christians have a lot of soul searching to do. We know the pain of black history. But we also must retain clarity that these many injustices were the result of race and color trumping Christian principles.

How can black Christians do this themselves? How can black Christians allow race and color to trump Christian principles in driving their support for a leader?

Particularly as sexually transmitted diseases kill our people, when a third of all abortions are black babies, and the only hope for future black prosperity is restoration of the black family?

Consequences For ChristiansLiberals are accelerating their push to pass federal “hate crimes” legislation. In a letter to members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Chairman Pat Leahy (D-Vt.) made no bones about his plan to fast-track the bill after the July 4th recess, bypassing the normal process. His maneuvering would mean that Republicans will have no input on legislation that would have sweeping consequences for churches, charities, Christians, and criminal law. Bob Knight sums it up as a “grab bag of ways to violate genuine constitutional rights while addressing a non-issue.”

Nevertheless, the Left insists on forcing a bill through Congress that establishes “thought crimes,” gives special protection to homosexuals under the law, and paves the way for the federal government to get deeply involved in crimes on the local level. The House already passed the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention Act (S. 909) back in April. Now the Senate leadership is racing to do the same.

You can help derail their train by flooding the offices of three Committee Democrats whose votes could make all the difference – Arkansas’s Blanche Lincoln, phone: 202-224-4843; Arkansas’s Mark Pryor, phone: 202-224-2353; and Alaska’s Mark Begich, phone: 202-224-3004. Remind them that equal justice under the law means equal protection for all!

WHERE IS THE CHOICE IN THIS ?

Funding UNFPA (The United Nations Population Fund)

MISSION STATEMENT: UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund, is an international development agency that promotes the right of every woman, man and child to enjoy a life of health and equal opportunity. UNFPA supports countries in using population data for policies and programmes to reduce poverty and to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, every young person is free of HIV/AIDS, and every girl and woman is treated with dignity and respect.

UNFPA – because everyone counts

Their whole website is a lie.  All the reproductive jargon and “help” is all about abortion.

Last year, a young Chinese woman – let’s call her Dan Li – ran afoul of the Chinese government.  She had become “illegally pregnant.”  By the time the authorities found out, Dan Li was seven months along.  Family planning officials tied her to a bed, induced labor, and, when the baby was born, killed the baby.

What happened to Dan Li is an abomination – one, however, that tragically takes place regularly in China.  But now, thanks to the U.S. Congress, you and I will be paying for it.

Last March, without fanfare, Congress passed a bill providing $50 million for the United Nations Population Fund.  This organization promotes abortion around the globe – including in China.  What makes the bill especially heinous is that it voided Kemp-Kasten, a bill which, for two decades, prevented our tax dollars from funding forced abortions and sterilization.

This blows the lid off the argument that abortion is all about giving a woman choice.  If Congress really stands for choice, as they claim, why did they vote for coercion?  If feminists are really for choice, why aren’t they fighting this law?  Why isn’t our President demanding that this brutalization of women be stopped?  This administration has the conscience of the Nazis … none!

Abortion is a glaring example of the difference worldview makes.  Are not all children – Chinese babies or inner-city African American babies – worthy of protection?  Are babies just mouths to feed, and a strain on the environment – or are they potential producers and contributors?  Do parents have the right under God to have as many children as they desire?  Or should governments dictate this decision?

Understand that coercive family planning is more than a humanitarian disaster … it is an abomination to life and to God!

Reggie Littlejohn is an expert on China’s “One Child” policy for a group called Human Rights Without Frontiers.  She points to the process and three negative outcomes of China’s policy.

First, “gendercide.”  Parents who are forced to limit their families to one child overwhelmingly abort girls.  For every 120 boys born in China, there are only 100 girls born.  So, since China’s “One Child” policy began in 1978, she writes, “400 million births” have been “prevented.”  That’s more than the current U.S. population.

Second, China’s gender imbalance “is a powerful, driving force behind trafficking in women and sexual slavery from nations surrounding China.”  Where do you think the young girls in America and other countries that are disappearing are going to? – China and the Middle East.

Third, according to the World Health Organization, China suffers the highest female suicide rate in the world – some 500 women per day.  As Littlejohn notes, “Forced abortion traumatizes women.  Could this high suicide rate be related to forced abortion?”  We know it is according to our American statistics.

You and I need to let our friends and churches know about the consequences of what Congress did – how their taxes being used by the UNFPA to support coercive family planning programs in China.  According to Reggie Littlejohn, if there’s enough of an outcry, “Congress can pass an amendment blocking . . . funding from going to nations that practice coercive family planning.”

I would hope even pro-choicers would agree that women deserve better than to be hunted down and tied up while their babies are being ripped out of them and killed.

As usual The New York Times passed on the opportunity to publish a great op-ed letter to President Barack Obama from Lou Pritchett, a former vice president of Procter & Gamble. Pritchett worked for that company for 36 years, until his retirement in 1989.

Confirmed by the Internet watchdog Snopes, here’s a sample of what Pritchett wrote:

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of the others, you truly scare me. …

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll. …

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with radical extremists who hate America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see America fail.

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the ‘blame America’ crowd and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country where the government sector dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer ‘wind mills’ to responsibly capitalizing on our own vast oil, coal and shale reserves. …

You scare me because you have begun to use ‘extortion’ tactics against certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals. …

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything you do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaughs, Hannitys, O’Reillys and Becks who offer opposing, conservative points of view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Finally, you scare me because if you serve a second term I will probably not feel safe in writing a similar letter in 8 years.

Lou Pritchett

Thank you, Mr. Pritchett, for your love for America, honesty and willingness to risk your reputation by speaking up to this administration.

Here are some more . . .

President Obama:

You scare me because so many amazing corporate and American leaders, such as Lou Pritchett, are saying you scare them.

You scare me because after you initiate more government borrowing and bailouts than all presidents combined, you then require Congress to follow a system that is “pay-as-you-go.”

You scare me because you really do believe that going into massive amounts of debt can remedy our economy in the long run.

You scare me because your actions don’t reflect the federal governmental constraints and fiscally prudent principles of our Founding Fathers and Constitution.

You scare me because you buy and run the banking, automobile and (soon) health industries with taxpayers’ money but refuse to call it socialism.

You scare me because you claim to be a fighter for minorities and the promises of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness yet do not defend the unborn. What greater minority is there than those in the womb, against whom you already have enacted more pro-abortion laws than anyone since the Roe v. Wade decision?

You scare me because you promise to defend the U.S. against all potential enemies yet pacify those harboring terrorists, fight for the rights of combative detainees, and enable the enemies of Israel.

You scare me because your media team (including the mainstream media) seeks to label as radical or in some way penalize any opposing conservative voices … such as conservative talk show hosts, news agencies, columnists and actors.

You scare me because your media team does not address or diminish in any way your deification before the world, epitomized by the editor of Newsweek who stated on Chris Matthews’ MSNBC show: “In a way, Obama’s standing above the country, above the world. He’s sort of God.” (How much scarier can it get than representative statements like that in a republic that once stood for a balance among political powers and a government “by the people, for the people”?)

You scare me . . . period!

SHOULD SUCH A WOMAN EVEN BE ALLOWED TO PROCREATE?

Sweden Approves Gender-Based Abortions

Sweden has made it legal for a mother to let her unborn child be aborted if she is not happy with its gender:

Swedish women will be permitted to abort their children based on the sex of the fetus, according to a ruling by Sweden’s National Board of Health and Welfare.

Baby GirlThe ruling was spurred by a request from Kai Wedenberg, head of the clinic where a woman twice requested, and received, an abortion based on sex. Mr. Wedenberg asked for clarification from health officials after a woman, who already had two girls, requested amniocentesis and to be told the sex of her unborn child. She found out she was pregnant with another girl and asked for an abortion six days later.

The woman then became pregnant again, returned to the clinic and asked for another amniocentesis, which was not performed. Later, at her ultrasound, she asked the nurse to reveal the sex of her fetus, which was a girl. After learning this, the mother requested an abortion later that day and received it later that week.

It is an incredible bad sign of the times: people do no longer respect human life. Having a child was once considered a blessing, no matter its gender. Today, not anymore in the many countries in which people have forgotten that human beings are the most exceptional and wonderful of all God’s creations … America is on that road under this administration.

We are not yet even three months into the new Obama administration and here is his record on abortion.

Pro-Abortion Presidential Record – 2009

  • January 5, 2009 – Obama picks pro-abortion Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine as the chairman of the Democratic Party.
  • January 6, 2009 – Obama chooses Thomas Perrelli, the lawyer who represented Terri Schiavo’s husband Michael in his efforts to kill his disabled wife, as the third highest attorney in the Justice Department.
  • January 22, 2009 – Releases statement restating support for Roe v. Wade decision that allowed virtually unlimited abortions and has resulted in at least 50 million abortions since 1973.
  • January 23, 2009 – Forces taxpayers to fund pro-abortion groups that either promote or perform abortions in other nations. Decison to overturn Mexico City Policy sends part of $457 million to pro-abortion organizations.
  • January 26, 2009 – Obama nominee for Deputy Secretary of State, James B. Steinberg, tells members of the Senate that taxpayers should be forced to fund abortions. Nominee erroneously says limits on abortion funding are unconstitutional.
  • January 29, 2009 – President Obama nominates pro-abortion David Ogden as Deputy Attorney General.
  • February 12, 2009 – Obama nominates pro-abortion Elena Kagan to serve as Solicitor General.
  • February 27, 2009 – Starts the process of overturning pro-life conscience protections President Bush put in place to make sure medical staff and centers are not forced to do abortions.
  • February 28, 2009 – Barack Obama nominates pro-abortion Kathleen Sebelius to become Secretary of Health and Human Services.
  • March 5, 2009 – The Obama administration shut out pro-life groups from attending a White House-sponsored health care summit. Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion business, made the invitation list as did other pro-abortion groups.
  • March 9, 2009 – President Barack Obama signed an executive order forcing taxpayer funding of embryonic stem cell research.
  • March 10, 2009 – Obama announces the creation of a new foreign policy position to focus on women’s issues. He names Melanne Verveer, an abortion advocate, to occupy the post.
  • March 10, 2009 – Reverses an executive order to press for more research into ways of obtaining embryonic stem cells without harming human life. The order Obama scrapped would have promoted new forms of stem cell research.
  • March 11, 2009 – Obama signed an executive order establishing a new agency within his administration known as the White House Council on Women and Girls. Obama’s director of public liaison at the White House, Tina Tchen, an abortion advocate, became director of it.
  • March 11, 2009 – Obama administration promotes an unlimited right to abortion at a United Nations meeting.
  • March 11, 2009 – Obama administration officials deny negative effects of abortion at United Nation’s meeting.
  • March 17, 2009 – President Barack Obama makes his first judicial appointment and names pro-abortion federal Judge David Hamilton to serve on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

This is not a man who has any concern for the sanctity of life. He has done this in less than 3 months!! I hope those “Christians”? who voted for him wake up before the 2012 election and will not vote for him again. This is just one of the ways President Obama is working to destroy our country which he calls arrogant and that he thinks needs to apologize to the rest of the world.

If you want fight back against President Obama’s attack on the sanctity of life … only support pro-life candidates to combat this all out assault on our values!

DR. DEATH IS COMING TO THE “HOUSE”

Abortion Activist Chosen to Lead Federal Health Department

President Barack Obama has nominated Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius to lead the Health and Human Services Department.  There is nobody in America that is more radically sold out to the abortion lobby than Kathleen Sebelius.  If confirmed, the pro-abortion governor would be in a position to profoundly influence federal and state policies on abortion, rights of conscience, bioethics and end-of-life issues.

She also would be instrumental in distributing federal funding to abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood.  “Health care” will now become an oxymoron like “Planned Parenthood” became a code word for abortion supplier.

Appointing someone who is the most pro-abortion governor in this country to be the person in charge of health care for our entire country is really just outrageous.  Sebelius’ record speaks loud and clear as she has said herself that “certain inalienable rights are not applied in utero.” (The Wichita Eagle)

As a state representative, she voted to weaken or eliminate parental-notification and informed-consent measures.  As governor, she has routinely opposed or vetoed abortion-accountability bills, including clinic-regulation legislation.  In 2008, she vetoed a measure that would have strengthened the state’s parental-notification law.

Perhaps most shocking is her support for notorious late-term abortionist George Tiller.  Sebelius honored Tiller and his friends and employees at the Governor’s Mansion in 2007.  Tiller stands trial this month on 19 counts of illegally performing late-term abortions.

There is nobody in America that is more radically sold out to the abortion lobby than Kathleen Sebelius.

THE LEFT CONTINUES … REJECT THESE NOMINEES !

Posted by straight shooter on February 18, 2009 under Abortion, Political, Social Concerns

In the past week, three of President Obama’s current most objectionable nominees had confirmation hearings in the U.S. Senate:

David Ogden Nominated to the high-ranking post of Deputy Attorney General of the United States. As a private attorney, Ogden worked for the ACLU and filed a brief in the landmark abortion case Planned Parenthood v. Casey that denied the existence of adverse mental health effects of abortion on women. Ogden has also been one of the nation’s most prominent porn defense attorneys, representing not only Playboy and Penthouse, but also PHE, Inc., the largest distributor of hardcore pornography in the United States.

Thomas PerrelliHe is Obama’s nominee for Associate Attorney General at the Justice Department. Perrelli won media attention as the attorney for Michael Schiavo, the Florida man who defeated Terri Schiavo’s family in their desperate attempt to keep her from being brutally starved and dehydrated to death at Michael’s insistence. Terri Schiavo collapsed under mysterious circumstances and was denied rehabilitation after funds won in a court settlement were allegedly diverted by Michael Schiavo for other uses.

Elena KaganShe is well-credentialed as the dean of Harvard Law School and Obama’s choice for Solicitor General, a post so powerful its occupant is often called the “10th Supreme Court justice. The outlandish thing is Kagan has never argued before the U.S. Supreme Court, but she and other law school officials sued to overturn the Solomon amendment, that had been adopted by Congress to ensure that law schools could not use homosexual rights rules to deny U.S. Armed Forces recruiters access to law school campuses.

The U.S. Senate will vote soon on these key appointments that will determine U.S. legal policy for years to come. These appointments will champion abortion on demand, legalized obscenity, special rights for homosexuals, and euthanasia. Votes may occur in the next 72 hours – please contact your two U.S. senators today and tell them that these nominees should not go forward.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE MEXICO CITY POLICY?

Posted by straight shooter on January 27, 2009 under Abortion, Political, Social Concerns

The Mexico City policy was first implemented via a memorandum by President Reagan in 1984 at a United Nations population conference in Mexico City, thus the name Mexico City policy. Prior to President Reagan’s actions American policy on paper was to never promote abortion overseas, however in practice US tax dollars directly supported organizations which advocated and performed abortion. It remained in effect until 1993 when President Clinton rescinded the Mexico City policy on January 22, 1993 for the entirety of his tenure in office. On January 22, 2001, President Bush issued a memorandum restoring the Mexico City policy.

In as little words as possible, the Mexico City policy halts U.S. family planning funds from going to foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that perform abortions or “actively promote” abortion as a method of family planning in other countries.

What does this mean? Under the Mexico City Policy for an NGO to be “actively promoting” abortions means they provide advice and information regarding the availability of abortion or encourage women to consider abortion; lobby a foreign government to legalize or make more available abortion; or conduct a public information campaign regarding the benefits and/or availability of abortion.

That is what NGO’s can’t do. What they CAN still do under the Mexico City Policy is provide referrals for abortion in cases of rape, incest, or where the mother’s life would be endangered if the unborn child were carried to term; and treat injuries or illnesses caused by legal or illegal abortions, i.e., post-abortion care. The argument that the Mexico City Policy is in actually a “global gag rule” is pure and utter nonsense – unless you actually believe that abortion, killing the child in the womb, is a form of family planning.

The effect of President Obama rescinding the Mexico City Policy is that now millions ($461 million in the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2008) of dollars are taken away from family planning groups that do not promote abortion, and delivered into the hands of organizations that are the most militant in promoting abortion as a population-control method – especially in countries that find abortion objectionable on moral grounds.
